TESTING
Precision Testing. Clear Data. Safer Operations.
Recreation Engineering provides advanced testing services to help operators, manufacturers, and owners maintain compliance, reduce risk, and improve ride performance. Our field-based testing programs are designed to deliver actionable data — not just reports — so you can make confident safety and operational decisions.
ACCELEROMETRY
Measure Performance. Protect Riders.
Accelerometry evaluates the real-world G-forces experienced by riders during operation. Using precision instrumentation, REI collects acceleration, velocity, and positional data across all ride types — from high-thrill coasters to family attractions to water rides.
Our testing allows you to:
• Verify compliance with ASTM and industry criteria
• Evaluate guest comfort and dynamic ride behavior
• Identify track or structural irregularities
• Detect performance drift over time
• Support commissioning, modifications, or annual inspections
We establish a baseline performance profile and compare future data sets against it to monitor dynamic changes and maintenance-related trends. This longitudinal approach allows operators to proactively address issues before they escalate.

ACCEPTANCE TESTING
Confident Openings. Verified Compliance.
Before a new ride opens to the public, it must meet jurisdictional requirements and safety standards. REI develops and executes comprehensive acceptance testing programs for new installations, ride relocations, and major modifications. We work directly with owners, manufacturers, and authorities having jurisdiction to:
• Perform required operational testing
• Verify compliance with applicable codes and standards
• Document performance results
• Support permitting and approvals
Our structured protocols help streamline approvals while ensuring safety expectations are fully met.
NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING (NDT)
Recreation Engineering Inc. performs NDT services in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). REI personnel are trained to ASNT standard SNT-TC-1A. Our staff also includes an ASNT Level III certified inspector. Recreation Engineering can provide nondestructive testing on your equipment and can also provide nondestructive testing plans to comply with local or national regulations.
REI is able to perform several different types of nondestructive testing, as seen below. These are some of the most common methods for finding surface and subsurface flaws in materials before they cause a problem. These are also the methods most often cited by manufacturers for testing their components.
